Today’s art of face painting and Body Art holds a long connection to the ancient world.  The tradition of decorating the face and body with temporary pigment goes back thousands of years.

It has been used in religious ceremonies, tribal ceremonies, as well as enhancing the concept of beauty.

Clay and natural pigments were and are still being used in some cultures, even to this day.

This ancient art of face and body painting has taken on a completely new look with the onset of technology.  It is now used in publications, promotions, and entertainment.

It is one of the major attractions at festivals, fairs, galas, and even backyard birthday parties.

BALLOON ART

The history of balloon art has a more vague pull on the past.

Through archeological discoveries, the Aztecs were the first people in history to make animals out of the intestines of cats as an offering to the gods.  The first rubber balloon was invented in 1824.  The modern latex balloon came about in 1931.

It was not till 1930’s that a vaudeville magician pulled out latex balloons out of his pocket and wowed his audience with this new attraction to cover the loss of his magic props.

He became known as the “Sultan of Balloons”.

The thin balloons were first manufactured in Japan around 1940’s, but the currant style of the traditional 260s was perfected in the 1950’s.

The ballooning magic is now real and out of this world.  The art of one balloon dogs and swords has been buried in history and in the hands of beginners.  The eyes of the children still light up with this incredible art, but now the eyes of the adults follow.
